The
Hospice is not so much a building as a concept of care .
. . . .
Set
in a tranquil location on the outskirts of Howwood, Renfrewshire,
we are a non-denominational hospice, that provides specialist palliative
care and support for people throughout the Renfrewshire locality.
|
We
see many more people in the community and other settings than we
do at the Unit. Caring for the family as well as the patient is
one of our main aims and we offer home respite, and brief arranged
admission to provide breaks for carers.
While
the team of chaplains provide spiritual care, the Hospice itself
is non-demoninational, caring for patients of all religions or none.
It is open to all who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness
including cancer, motor neurone disease and other progressive conditions,
and have specialist palliative care needs. Patients can be referred
by their GP, hospital consultant, specialist palliative care nurse,
community nurse, or by self-referral. Please see the Services section
of this website for full details.
St.
Vincent's costs over £1.8 million per year to run - that's
£5000 every day of the year! The Hospice is a Registered Charity,
although we have some support from our local health board, financially
we rely heavily on the generosity of donors. Through JustGiving
you can now securely donate to the Hospice online with debit and
credit cards. We are grateful for all donations, please see our
Fundraising section for more information, visit The Barn Tearoom,
support our Events, or Volunteer!
