The Hospice is a Registered Charity largely dependent on donations. Patients are not asked to contribute, but such voluntary donations that they may wish to make are very greatly appreciated. We depend on the generosity of donors for most of our operating cots and all of our capital expenditure. Indeed, we could not exist without the skills, enthusiasm and sheer determination of our fundraisers - from major sponsorships and corporate hospitality, to schools, programmes and daredevil events. We also rely heavily on private individuals, whose contributions range from loose change in our cans to major legacies. With the introduction of Gift Aid tax incentives, all donations qualify for tax relief - large or small, regular or one-off - whatever the method of payment. This enables the Hospice to claim back the basic rate income tax at no cost to the donor, provided the donor is a taxpayer.
